BERKHAMSTED 4 DIDCOT TOWN 0
Report by Grant Hastie
With left back Danny Murphy unavailable, Berko brought back Connor Toomey from Hayes & Yeading United and Lee Stobbs also won a recall to the starting line-up. Erin Amu also made his debut coming on late in the second half.
Berko scrambled in three close range goals in the first half at the railway end. Lewis Toomey (pictured) got the first goal with a shot from just outside the 6-yard box. Alex Taylor fired a shot over the bar too as Berko started well. Saul Williams played in Jonathan Lacey but his shot was too high. Ryan Kinnane got a cut head after a nasty challenge that went unpunished. Whilst he was getting treatment in his bloody shirt Berko were down to 10 men, but still they doubled their lead through Lee Stobbs, his first for the club. Five minutes before the interval Lewis Toomey scored again from deep in the penalty area.
Didcot rarely threatened in either half with Xavi Comas –Leon tipping one shot over the bar and another powerful shot went too high at the railway end. Lacey raced clear but hit the post at the canal end.
Substitute Will Summerfield did well on the right wing and laid the ball for Toomey to net his hat trick at the canal end in the second half. He therefore joins Jonathan Lacey as joint top scorer with 8 goals so far this season, and soon after scoring, he came off to a standing ovation.
Substitute Marley Hamilton headed wide when well placed at the back post. It was a comfortable win for The Comrades who remain in second place a point behind AFC Dunstable, who also had a good win.
