Beginings

Many local clubs have their roots in local collieries e.g. Emlyn Colliery became Penygroes RFC, Pen Cae Colliery became Llandybie RFC.

Although the Cottage Hall Company opened Caerbryn Colliery roughly around 1870-1875 we have no records to confirm that the club started in this way, except. Some of the older committee members including myself recall seeing photographs of Caerbryn Stars dated to the early 1900's, unfortunately these photographs have disappeared from the walls of the club.

Beneath the grass of Blaenau lay rich deposits of best quality anthracite and over the year the village has been completely encircled by opencast mining operations. I remember turning up for a training session in the late 1970's getting changed and walking towards the field only to be stopped in my tracks by a scrapper digging up the pitch, floodlights and cables.
