1. Overview

Promoting and developing junior hockey (for young people from 6yrs to 16 yrs) is an important part of the Club's activities.

The junior hockey programme coaching and match programme is managed by the Club's Junior Team, supported by a committed group of volunteer coaches, managers and helpers. Please feel free to offer to help to spread the workload.

Our MINIS section is for U8's -U12's and they train and play matches on Sunday mornings.

We are developing a clear pathway for our Youth players into the senior game and as part of this we are delighted to welcome Bob Gotobed to our Youth Coaching team from September. Bob is currently the Chair of the Essex Coaching and Youth Committee and is responsible for all Development and Academy Centre work run by Essex as part of the England Hockey player Pathway, he is also responsible for employing the Coaches that delivers that work and as such brings with him a wealth of experience and knowledge of how the game is progressing in England. He is currently helping to write the Essex Academy training plans for the coming season and will also be using these at Hornets.
