After narrowly missing promotion last season, our 1st XV remain in Southern Counties North and Jamie Temple lead the boys out at Stow for the opening league fixture on 8th September, winning 26-10. The Swans, with their largest squad ever, are again lead by Nicola Lepper and the girls got off to a great start with a 34-17 victory away to Wymondham Wasps.
The Club values and appreciates the support of our VPs, recognising that some reside locally and that many continue to support from further afield. Regardless, I would urge you to participate as fully as possible; lunches, touchline support, volunteering, 300 Club and fundraising events – our newly refurbished clubhouse is a great place to be and the camaraderie is thrown in for free!
Before providing you with information and key event details, I would like to take this opportunity to make a plea for your support of me personally as I take on this role. The administration task consumes a huge amount of time. Time that I will have to find in addition to running a business that consumes around 13 hours a day – sorry, but ring rounds and popping down to the bank will simply not be possible.
Therefore, please come with me as we continue to administer lunch bookings, lunch payments, international tickets and subscriptions via our web site, just as the RFU do and are increasingly demanding that clubs do. Whilst Sally Hodges has kindly agreed to be your touchline contact, verbal bookings and the banking of cheques and cash really add to the administrative burden and must be considered a thing of the past. Communication and financial transactions are most effectively handled online, in fact it’s rarely otherwise these days – if Tiger can read and send emails, anyone can!
Taking as much online as possible helps keep the cost of your VP subscription unchanged for the 6th year in succession. The standard method of payment is via Direct Debit on our web site and this maintains our membership records automatically, whereas BACS and any other type of payment requires bank account monitoring and manual intervention.
For fixture updates, cup games and other events, please do look out for my regular email updates and for Simon Wells’s postings on the web site.
Lunches are well attended and always a fantastic afternoon out, please see the details below. At £30 including silver service and wine, or at £15 when served buffet style, they represent great value. Please visit the Payments section of our web site now to book your seats as last minute requests often cannot be fulfilled.
