Ladies 4s win 9-4!

What a performance from the Ladies 4s yesterday in truly atrocious conditions! resources were stretched once again with only one sub available for 4/5/6s but we had a strong squad and the application and focus was great. Abi and Rachel both pounced on straight balls which punctured the Watsonians defence and finished with composure. There was a third goal in the 1st quarter - after a drive right and baseline by Mackenzie Di Nella and a precise cut back. I think the 4th was Abi again with a similar sort thing but the sleet and rain then left various players VERY cold and we lost a goal after conceding possession when we really should not have. It was a surprise as Amelia Leitch, Emily Forbes, Emma Mc and Eilidh H had been just tidying up anything in our half up to that point.After various redressing at half-time we were still a bit off point early in the 2nd half and lost a 2nd goal despite some Ali Mcginn heroics but that was a trigger to up our game, and our 5th and 6th followed quickly. I am really struggling to know what they were - I was too busy trying to make sure we didn't have a serious case of hypothermia on the pitch! We converted a corner (rather a nice clean strike though I say it myself!) It came back out of the backboard so well I think they were arguing it came off the post... Mackenzie Di Nella then saved my blushes by somehow deflecting my attempt at going for the opposite corner with the next strike (must have been heading 2m wide!) into the net. We think Mack picked up another deflection for a 9-4 final score. There might be a hat-trick in there for someone? Can't say a big enough "well done"to the squad, a big enough "thank-you" to John for umpiring or to thank Marj for turning out when unable to play, and doing a fantastic job on the bench to try and keep folk warm!
