Carluke Tigers 22 - 28 Edinburgh Eagles
Well Saturday seen the start of something spectacular. For the first time ever Carluke and Lanarkshire has their very own rugby league team. The Tigers played their first game at Bellshill Academy's ground. For the majority of the Tigers this was their first game of rugby league ever. All of the players play rugby union and this would be a real test for them as they were up against the current Scottish Champions; The Edinburgh Eagles, who had no less than ten Scotland A players in their starting line-up.
The game started off well, the Eagles opened the scoring about 7 minutes into the game with a try just under the posts. However the Tigers were not disheartened by this at all and within minutes returned with a fantastic team effort to score their first try. The Eagles then went on to score a further two times but the Tigers replied with another score of their own. At half time the Tigers trailed by 12 points.

The second half was a close contest with both teams playing well, the Eagles knowledge and experience of the game was just too much for the Tigers to match. A valiant effort by the Tigers though, outscoring their more experienced opponents in the second half with two scores to the Eagles one.
