Chester completed a league and cup double as they beat Neston by nine wickets in the rearranged Cheshire Cup Final.

Twice called off at Neston,the match was hastily switched to Chester on the third attempt after conditions were deemed unsuitable at Parkgate,

Both sides decamped swiftly and Chester rearranged other games at the ground to accommodate the final which was reduced to 30 overs a side.

Winning the toss and batting first, Neston got off to a flyer with the dangerous Will Evans and Simon Stokes on the attack.

Stokes fell for 18 with the score on 42 while Evans blasted 63, before departing with the score at 111-5.

Matt Stewart hit an unbeaten 25 as Neston were all out for 154 in the final over, Harry Killoran 2-25, Warren Goodwin 2-16 and Charlie Fleet 2-19.

Chester set about their response with relish, fending off Ash Davies and Stewart to amass 128 before Goodwin fell for a vintage 83 which included two sixes and twelve fours.

Rick Moore ended unbeaten on 54 as Cheshire cruised to victory with eight overs left to secure a memorable league and cup double.

Chester have now won the Cheshire Cup five times in the last six years.
