A beautiful sunny evening and a flat pitch. Win the toss and get the runs on the board. This is what Chester duly did. Based mainly around Seamus Ogilby's 96 from 50 balls. After losing Tommy Evans first ball of the game caught off the bowling of Gary Dixon. Seamus began to compile a score with the help of Jonty Hedgecoe (21) and Ed Roberts (25). Late hitting from Dan Riley and Adam 'Loves the scoop' Dunbavand saw Chester post 194 for 6 from their 20 overs.
The frenetic pace of 20/20 takes some getting used to and with Upton rattling along from the outset, it was game on. Dave Fisher took the first wicket and then Matt Griffiths and Shane Patel took 2 each and at 78 for 5 half way through the 8th over, the bowlers were able to apply the brakes. Further wickets for Griff thanks to a brilliant one handed catch by Fishy, Dan and Wiggy meant that Upton fell short by 37 in the end.
A good game played between two competitive sides and nice to share a drink at the end. It would certainly be good to see them promoted so we could play them in the longer format.
Finals day here we come....
