Not a cloud anywhere and the pitch looking competitive, the outfield rapid and Andy Metcalf hopeful of facing his second ball of the month!
Dan lost the toss and Grappenhall batted. Rob Fisher and Wiggy kept the power play tight with 30 on the board and 2 wickets - one each. Wiggy back to his arrowing best and Fishy tight lines.
Dan and Brayno replaced them and continued to keep the score down but both picked up regular wickets; Dan removing the dangerous Wright bowled. Some great catching from Luke and Joe helped and the ground fielding was spot on. Jake and Je were the 5th bowler and the former took a wicket and Joe kept the score tight. 111 the final score. Below par
Andy Metcalf and Tom Wyatt got things going and immediately steadied the nerves. Fine striking and quick running the hallmarks. Metcalf's first legal ball was dispatched in to the canal for 6. A 50 partnership and then a wobble with the openers, Dil and Spavo all go with the score on 63. Luke and Wiggy came together and finished things off. Luke is calmer than calm and Wiggy used all his power and timing to douse the Grappenhall fire and took Chester to a 6 wicket win. Top performance. All the bowlers were superb and the two 50 partnerships the winning contributions. Neston away next round.
