t20 ton up for Spavo

t20, the harum scarum form of cricket played in coloured kit. Champions on 3 occasions in recent years, the 2s are a good outfit in this form with Dan, Wiggy, Joe K, Fishy and Brayno all in the side the last time the cup was won in 2019. Spavo was 12th man on the day...not on this occasion though as he took up centre stage. Dan decided to bat, looking to take an unassailable lead in to half time!
Spavo didn't have it all his own way as he was dropped without scoring but thereafter he blasted his first ton for the second team. The early loss of Joe K and Brayno didn't deter the destructive shotmaking at the other end. Strokes all around the ground including a number of brutally flat 6s which had the local residents hiding behind their sofas. 15 x 4, 5 x 6 and a mere 68 balls later, the innings was done with Spavo unbeaten on 131. Modge did a great job in partnership by gathering up singles and getting Spavo back on strike while Wiggy (14) shared an partnership of 60 with front row seats.
The 'what we score is a good score' mantra hasn't gone away but 192 is good by anyone's standards. Wiggy and Fishy know their onions in this cricket and they showed their skills. Wiggy with a wicket in his first over and Fishy bowling his 4 overs for just 9 and landing 3 wickets.
Archie Riley and Kam Hornby followed them and they too bowled excellently. Archie has come on a lot and developed his skills, he bowled opposite skipper Graham and took another courtesy of a smart Joe K catch. Kam's 2 for 20 demonstrated once again what a great addition to the side he is. Dan managed to take one too as Port Sunlight petered out on 119...25 of which were extras.
Great team performance. Bowling unit (in the main, sorry Brayno) fired, catches were caught and a match winning innings was played.Oulton Park or Alvanley at home in the next round. Can't wait!
