Catches win matches.

A second against third placed game which saw Alderley Edge leapfrog Chester. Another lost toss (it's getting annoying now) and Chester batting on a tricky looking deck. Even Griff said bowl. Bobby back for a week in place of Rob Morris who was at a gig with some mates. Griff looking to build on his early season form but tough conditions. Three Chester players fielded for the Edge whilst their batters had a spot of lunch in the sun. No rush! 16 people field for them in total which must be some kind of record.

Bobby got to 21 before Alan gave him LBW looking to sweep. Griff was nudging around much to the amusement of Jonty via asocial media. 63 on the board at drinks and a change of plan when Ian fell for 7. Dan Riley up the order to number 4 and a boundary down the ground to signal the intent. A solid partnership of 63 with Matthew Griffiths brought the game back round in Chester's favour but when Griff was out for a fine 67 wickets fell regularly to the slow bowlers. A big six from the skipper bouncing off the club captain's house in an over that went for 14 looked like getting a defendable total. Riley out for 52 and the innings closed on 181 for 8.

Ed Fluck had polished off his lunch and the tea and used the extra energy to put Alex Towned to the sword but the youngster got him plumb LBW. Wickets ticked down as Sam Mallows got 2 quick ones with Adam and Tommy Wyatt clinging on to good catches. Dan Riley got a couple too but crucially Adam Wildig dropped on the rope with the fielder placed just for that shot!
At 5 down Chester looked odds on but then a partnership with Charlie Fleet and the skipper trying to keep things tight but no wickets. James Cottrell on and he struggled to find his length. Dan back and two more wickets. But that was the end in reality as captain Jon Usher came in and hit some boundaries to finish things off. First home defeat since 2014.

Onwards to the local derbies. Alvanley in the t20 and then Tattenhall away for the first time in the premier league.

MotM Dan RIley 4 for 39 and 52.
DotD Tom Wyatt - "Dan, Dan, look...." It was a bus. On a bridge.
