Wiggy, Fish and Riley wickets set up eventful chase inspired by Jamo fireworks (and some Keggy help to ready the pitch).

A home game; glorious. Beautiful sun beating down on Filkins Lane as the seconds push toward victory watched by spectators from the balcony...or rain! Michael Fish and his friends at planet weather were spot on as it hammered down all morning. Games off in the East of the county but Keggy confident the game would bully-off on time. And it did.
The usual indecision by the skipper resulted in the usual outcome of a lost toss. Bowling but with Alex Towned and Atko in good form plus the spinners to come, confidence was high. Alex didn't take long in accounting for the Marple top 3 courtesy of some excellent slip catches form Griff and Jamo. With the stubborn Wild gone, the scene was set for an early finish. Gary Cash came in and retired injured with a dodgy arm having hit the skipper for 6 (shrewd move to toss it up!) Atko had bowled well without reward until one slower ball too many lead the captain to put him out to pasture for a while. Wiggy bowled an excellent 9 over opening spell taking 3 wickets for 18. Rob Fisher left waiting and some stubborn blocking against Dan and Charlie until a short leg and silly mid off were posted which unnerved Charlie more than the batters and they began to strike out. Fishy on to change things up as Charlie had bowled well in his seven overs. Wickets began to come first for Dan courtesy of another excellent Jamo catch and then Fish carried on where he'd left off last week. A later flurry curtailed by catch of the day from Wiggy and all out in the last over for 142. A top effort again with the ball and in the field evidenced by some whites made filthy from dives and some super catches. Rob Fisher 4 for 26 from 9 and Dan 2 for 37 from 14.
The end of the Marple innings had been wet. Rain, plenty of it and getting on the pitch so the covers came on and remained long enough for the rain to ease and for no time to be lost.
Nick James and Matt Griffiths opened and with the former now qualified for t20 duties, he took the opportunity to demonstrate his full range of shots. In a stunning 3 over burst the total rattled along to 32 without Griff facing a ball. Brutal shots to all parts of the ground including a characteristic pull for 4 and a pick-up for six. Cricket can be cruel though and Jamo was bowled off his thigh pad - a once in a career dismissal. The game would have been over in 10 overs had the assault continued but it inspired Griff to get off the mark with a four and Joe Killoran (inked in at 3) to carry on with his quest to become number 3 for England.
The score rattled along over 100 as bowlers were tried with the Chester batters fully into their stride. Joe pulling and flicking the ball away and Griff punishing anything wayward. Bu then the collapse. Griff (57) and Joe (40) bowled. Then on a day of puddles, four ducks in a row and 135 for 7. George, Wiggy, JC and Charlie all out without scoring. Foxy (another not out) and Dan Riley saw it home. Five league wins on the bounce and with other games surely succumbing to the weather the chance to move to the top of the league was there.

MotM - Alex Townend for another excellent bowling spell and fine diving catch (we won't mention the batting).
DotD - Joe Killoran. Every person in the side had a different reason why Joe should be awarded with this one and each reason in itself was sufficient.
