Win at home for double points despite a good hundred from young Strong.

Old foes Neston at home on double point Saturday. YouTube rolling and the 2s intent on winning to keep pushing for that top spot in Premier West. Last minute gym incidents and side strains changed the side but Sahil Bareja benefited and made his league debut. Gilly called incorrectly and Dan decided to bat on a softer than usual pitch. The ground looked a picture bathed in sun and Luke and Griff headed out to find some form.
Griff chopped on and Luke was joined by Noah. Key part of the game and the pair ran well in the face of some very accurate, mainly leg-spin bowling. The pair added 50 before Noah edged a good one to the 'keeper. Enter Spavo who again looked in good touch but again holed out having done little wrong...it will come!
Luke moved through the gears and 200 was agreed on as a reasonable target. Toft hero Dil was looking cool and finding the gaps as he too settled in to his work. Dil eventually holed for 19 leaving Luke and Reg to kick on. Reg has quickly become a key man in the team: great with bat and ball, superb in the field but perhaps more importantly he reads the situation well. Nothing rash needed but runs a must. When Luke was caught behind for 62 things could have slipped away but Reg kept things ticking with clips, scoops and then a 6 over midwicket. Lower order runs meant 184 was the magic number. Reg and Luke superb. Neston spinners largely excellent too. Teenage seem attack to be put to the test.
Ian Gill has won games regularly in second team games and when Matty Brayne bowled him nerves began to settle. Strong looked to settle in as Dan rotated the seamers. Noah opened the bowling...very well. He bowled 7 overs for 19 and kept a lid on things. Brayno switched with Fish and then Reg who kept things tight as the fielders went further out to pasture. Sahil impressed on debut. Tight lines and lengths and calmer after his first two overs he held his nerves and did a great job. In an effort to get wickets, Dan came on and immediately removed Brookes LBW. The score ambled along and things seemed to be sliding away from Neston and with Strong on 31 from 31 overs, not a lot was happening. When Dan got rid of the last two senior players in one over, victory seemed inevitable.
Strong then stepped things up. Fishy whacked for a couple of 6s, Dan (3 for 23) done and teenage seamers on again - great learning curve. Brayno's over going for 16 leaving 24 required from the last 2. Reg Wyatt the man. Just like Wiggy has been in previous seasons, Reg seems to love the pressure and his over went for just four singles, leaving him with 7 overs for 17 runs: fantastic. Noah left with the job of defending 20 in the last and he did. Strong went through to his hundred with 4 from the last ball and Neston finished ten short. Great game and 8 points for Chester.
Youngsters standing up and doing the job with the ball; the future is looking good.

MotM - Luke for his 62 but Reg up there for an excellent all round performance.
DotD - Dil for suggesting he was trying extra hard in the field due to the live stream.
