Chester Boughton Hall 3rd XI V Oxton

This week the 3As traveled to oxton where they have had fond memories. Joey dez returned this week substituting for Reg Wyatt who was away on DofE for the weekend. With heavy rain the night before the 3As turned up to a soggy outfield and as always a green seamer. Congratulations to ste Treen for winning his first toss of the season. He elected to Bowl first to the delight of the team who had great success bowling first last week.

Harvey and littler were opening the bowling for CBH in tricky wet conditions in the early overs. After 6 overs the captain decided to change his attack after one of the oxton openers was seeing it like a beach ball. Joe maddocks came on looking to disrupt the openers, however not all is meant to be as he went for 33 off his 5 overs without a breakthrough. After this king baker and mcgrovern came on with CBH in desperate need of a wicket as the one of the openers graced 100. Mcgrovern started off bowling tight lines in dangerous areas and slowed the run rate down considerably. Eventually pressure mounted and the opener on 110 fell to hand of mclovin. This was a huge shift in the momentum in the game for The 3As as another wicket fell shortly after with McGovern bowling and ste treen catching.with McGovern holding down one end the captain decided to bring on James cotterll to replace the king. All hail king bakes. This proved to be very rewarding for the team as james took a wicket early in his spell with a perfectly placed fielder who had been moved just the ball before. Good cricket. After this CBH suppressed oxtons batting line up with McGovern seeing out his 14 overs with figures of 3-58. A game changing performance from McGovern which would keep the game in sight for boughten hall. Oxton ended up on 253 off 45 overs.
After a highly rated tea the 3As strolled out to bat with joey dez and Dave Henson opening. After and early breakthrough for oxton James cotterll graced the crease after a promotion from last weeks heroics. Joey dez and James cotterll begin to create a solid partnership with both scoring fast in the early overs. However this was short lived as cotterll fell to a caught and bowled on 21 and joey shortly following with an impressive 44. Mani and rob Morris were the next to chance their hand at making it 3 in 3 for the 3As. Rob got off to a quick start with multiple boundaries towards the tennis courts, however this would be cut short as he was soon caught on the boundary after a good 27. Jack McGovern was next to join mani at the crease and proved to be the man finding the boundary keeping the 3As within the run rate required. Mani was providing an anchor for the team while scoring crucial runs and keeping the scoreboard ticking over when we appeared to be bogged down. The pair would close the game out with two flawless performance with mani finishing on 102* which was his maiden century for CBH. Batted mani. Mclovin finished on 52* in a true all round performance imposing his will on the game withy bat and ball. The mighty 3As chased down oxtons total with 5 wickets and 6 overs remaining.
To conclude, a great performance with bat once again from the 3As.man of the match was a split decision between jack McGovern and mani who both had incredible performances. This win keeps the streak alive with CBH now on a 3 game win streak and will look to add to this next week at home against Warrington. #wegoagain
