A lovely summer's evening greeted the Blazers at Parkgate.
Losing the toss, Chester were invited to field first and got off to a good start, keeping things tight in the early stages through Pav and Ian Martin, the former picking up an early wicket thanks to a tidy stumping by Karlos. With Goldy sidelined due to a mysterious knee injury (didn't affect him drinking Aperol spritz!), Atko, Graham and Atif stepped up and Chappers chipped in with 2 overs at the death. Atif took a wicket thanks to a smart catch by Santosh in the deep, but key scores of 30* for Hackett and Donelan saw the home team finish on 130 off their 20.
Karl and Cooky opened up and when our stumper was bowled early on, we were behind the rate and up against it. Atif looked in control and made an accomplished 31* but when Cooky was out for 19 and Jim, Scotty and Ian all went relatively cheaply, there was too much to do. Santosh batted well for his 19* and Atko hit a couple of boundaries but it was all in vain as we finished on 106 from 20 overs.
Afterwards we had a chippy tea, some nice cold lager courtesy of our hosts and with no R. Fisher, Jim led a good fines session.
MOTM - Pav for his fine bowling
DOTD - Graham (he sort of gave it to himself)
It's been a great season and we've have a lot of fun along the way. On to the Quarter Finals now with a home draw vs Grappenhall, to be played on Wednesday 11th August.
