Sunday saw CBHLCC travel to Division 2 side Wistaston Village. Having not beaten Wistaston in at least the last 3 games, CBHLCC knew they were in for a tough game.
With rain in the air and a soggy outfield, Nicola Capes won the toss and put Wistaston into bat. Things started well, with Annette Axon getting Jones caught superbly by keeper Di Totty for 0 with the score on 6. Wistaston progressed to 30 before their second wicket fell, again to Annette Axon, before a partnership of 90 took Wistaston onto 120 before the 3rd wicket fell. Wistaston finishing on a respectable 164/5 off their 40 overs, Captain Smith leading the way with 66, supported well from youngster Bratt (45). The wet outfield and ball did not help a below-par fielding display which saw a number of catches go down throughout the Wistaston innings. Annette Axon was the pick of the bowlers finishing with 3/12 off her 8 overs.
Openers Nicola Deane and Laura Griffiths were going well on 37, when Laura Griffiths was given out LBW. The day got worse for Laura Griffiths as once she had removed her boot, she was unable to weight bear on her foot and was in a lot a pain following a blow to it whilst fielding. A later trip to A&E confirmed a broken foot!! Get well soon Griff!!
CBHLCC continued the run chase with another good knock from Mollie Coleman (12), with Nicola Capes chipping in with 16 and Natalie Wheat (20*) batting lower down the order due to not feeling 100%, CBH falling short finishing on 131/8 off their 40 overs.
CBHLCC need to dust themselves down and bounce back as they return to action against Hawarden Park in the T20 Divisional Competition on Tuesday evening and play Didsbury away in the Knockout Cup on Friday.
