Kevin Ingram - RIP

Kevin Ingram - RIP

MATTHEW STEPHEN22 Jan - 19:21

With deep regret, we advise all members and friends of Chippenham RFC that Kevin Ingram has passed away

It is with deep sadness that we acknowledge the passing of Kev Ingram.

An active member of Chippenham RFC since the mid-eighties, Kevin joined the club back in the Birch Grove days and quickly established himself as regular in the 1st XV. A no nonsense hooker, he combined an abrasive edge with a skill-set that occasionally saw him deployed at scrumhalf. Kev was a gifted ball player comfortable in all aspects of the game, and whether it was accurate lineout throwing, hitting rucks, or spinning passes, he always left an impact on the game, and those around him.

When he retired from playing Kev switched to coaching, taking his son Josh’s age group from Mini’s through the Junior age groups, winning the Dorset & Wilts Cup and Bristol Combination Cup along the way.

During his coaching career Kev was often forced into picking up the whistle and it seemed a natural next step when he decided to qualify as a Referee. He joined the Dorset & Wilts Referees Society and spent the next few years refereeing at a Senior level across the twin counties.

His commitment to Chippenham Rugby Club and his positive influence on players young and old will be sadly missed. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

We thank Siobhan, Catherine, Josh and Annie who have kindly advised on the details for Kevin’s funeral which will be held on Friday 7th February 12:00 At North Wilts Crematorium in Wootton Bassett

This will be followed by a celebration of his life at Chippenham Rugby Club and everyone is welcome and we hope you’ll join in raising a glass to Kevin’s memory.

Please come in whatever you are comfortable in, we obviously expect to see plenty of shorts, in true Kev style.

The family have requested Family Flowers only and all donations if desired to Alzheimer's Support - link below
