You may recall that the top priority for the Money Maul committee over the past year has been to support the club in enhancing security across the clubhouse and grounds. This major project has included replacing the clubhouse windows and doors, upgrading the club’s alarm system, installing a more robust entrance gate and, finally, installation of CCTV cameras to help protect our staff and facilities.

I am delighted to tell you that, with the support of Money Maul funding, this project has now been completed ahead of schedule. Your generous support for the club though your Money Maul subscription has meant that the club’s security has now been significantly improved.

Club membership fees frozen

At the club’s recent AGM, club members voted to accept the recommendation of the club’s Board to freeze membership fees for the 2019/20 season. This is the third season in a row that club membership fees have been frozen. Although the club faces rising maintenance costs as our facility ages, we are also very aware that increasing membership costs can prevent some families or individuals from playing rugby.

The club wishes to keep rugby affordable and accessible for all members of our community and the Money Maul fund plays a vital role in helping us to achieve this aim. The continued support of Money Maul members to help fund maintenance and improvement projects for the club is a significant reason why the Board has felt able to recommend a membership price freeze again this year. Thank you for helping to support the club to keep rugby accessible for all who wish to experience or play this great game that we love.

Over £15k paid out in prizes!

Since the club’s lottery competition was set up five years ago, we have now paid out over £15,000 in prize money to members. This is a fantastic achievement and congratulations to all those who have won prizes. Since rebranding the lottery as the Money Maul last year, membership has continued to grow and, should this trend continue, we hope to increase the cash prizes to four each month giving even more opportunities to win. Please do encourage your friends and other members to join us.

Future projects

With your support, the club is determined to ensure that the condition of our clubhouse and grounds reflects our ambition to be one of the leading amateur clubs in the South West.

We are making good progress but there is still much for us to do if we are to provide the very best facilities for our members, players and guests. The more support we have the more we can achieve and so please do encourage other members and friends to join us in the Money Maul (an application from is attached).

Following requests from members, the club plans to install low level lighting for the pathway between the clubhouse and the car park as well as to improve lighting in the main car park. The Money Maul committee has now agreed to help fund these projects, which should be completed during the autumn.
