“The Club Board has kindly given me special permission to announce that I am going to participate in the Alzheimer’s Society Trek 26 sponsored walk from Salisbury on Saturday 11th May. As soon as this 26mile walk was announced I instantly knew that I had to do it. My sister in law Angela and step mother Pep both suffered terribly from this horrible disease of Dementia and in his later years the one and only great work colleague, great friend and great Chippenham RFC Clubman Dan Garraway, was also suffering. My walk is specifically in memory of Dan who died on May 11th 2022, just a couple of years ago...

Dan played standoff for Neath and Coventry in his prime and in his fifties for CRFC against Kinsale albeit for only fifteen minutes. His sons Jeremy and Jonathon both played Chippenham RFC 1st team rugby and Dan was always on the touch line (and at the bar). He was fun, kind and just a good bloke!

So many of us sadly will likely give into dementia but with your help we can do our bit to help Alzheimer’s Society to eradicate this horrible disease.

I have set a target of £700 to secure in sponsorship but know with your help we can smash this and maybe hit £1000. Although 26 miles in one day is more that I have done before I have done 24 miles of Yorkshire three peaks plus 22 miles just last Sept when completing the Wainwrights 200 mile coast to coast so am determined and very confident.
