Youngsters do them selves proud at Arriva Bangor FC

Reports come in of a dramatic game at Bangor's Nantporth 3 G pitch where the youngsters from Denbigh met Arriva Bangor FC from the Anglesey league in Round 2 of the NWCFA Junior Cup. The game had been switched from Denbigh as the pitch here was not felt in good enough condition for such a game.

Denbigh Development made the journey to Bangor with a very young team and short of a goalkeeper. Right back Liam Nash put his head above the parapet and agreed to go between the sticks.

As the game kicked off the young, skilful side seemed suited to the smooth 3 G surface and within half an hour 17 yr old Josh Rowlands had scored a hat trick. Further goals came from 16 yr olds Owen Heath [ pictured ] and Alfie Harrison with three goals being scored by Bangor making it 5 - 3 to Denbigh Development at half time.

Arriva Bangor are a good strong side and are currently 6th in Division 1 of the Anglesey League despite only playing nine league games so far this season. However, they have scored 34 league goals so far and they were never going to simply lie down. They came out determined to put things right as far as they were concerned and they managed two goals with Denbigh failing to find the net in the second period. At full time it was 5 each and Bangor scored 4 more goals in extra time meaning they go through with a 9 - 5 victory.

Manager Craig Morris said " We do have a good young side and all the players like having the ball and are comfortable with the ball at their feet but in the end we tired and got out muscled by a physically stronger team. Good experience coming here though. Good luck to Arriva Bangor in the next round"
