Welcome to the Didcot RUFC - Under 6 - Tag Rugby Team

Welcome to the youngest team in Didcot Rugby Club!
We are the Under 6s!

We are working towards playing Tag rugby, a non-contact, fast-moving form of rugby that is suitable for boys and girls to play together. Our team is made up of boys and girls in Reception/Foundation Stage and Year 1.

Tag rugby's safe, non-contact nature, combined with the fun and liveliness of the sport, means that Tag rugby is now the RFU’s official version of the game for under 7s and under 8s! The use of a tag and tag belt replicates a tackle and is clearly seen when an effective tag has been made (tag pulled from another player’s tag belt).

In the U6s the emphasis is on having fun whilst learning some of the key skills for Tag rugby and ultimately contact rugby. We look to develop passing, tagging and evasion by playing active short games. We understand that very young players are still learning what their bodies can do and explore coordination, balance and agility and encourage creativity and decision making.

Throughout all the sessions the players are guided to follow the Core Values of Rugby: Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship, by working together, listening to the coaches and each other, following the rules to allow for a fair game, encouraging each other and having fun.
