On Thursday 7th June 2012 Eddie Irvine Sports Football Club had their annual Prize Night for all age groups. On this evening the club decided to have a collection basket in aid of Marie Curie Cance Care. The evening was a great success. It was given a further success boost when basket totalled £50 at the end of the evening.
On top of the donation from Prize Night, Eddie Irvine Sports FC also participated in another bag pack at Tesco in Bloomfield Shopping Centre on Saturday 4th August 2012. Yet again a substantial amount of money was raised from the kind donations from the general public. Therefore it was decided to donate £250 to Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Adding together the Donations from Prize Night and the Bag Pack at Tesco, Eddie Irvine Sports Football Club made a donation of £300.
About Marie Curie Cancer Care
"We need to raise £10,000 every hour of every day to carry on our work"
Marie Curie has 2,000 nurses in the UK and last year they worked for 1,200,000 hours caring for terminally ill patients, including half of all cancer patients who die at home.
They also have nine hospices and are the biggest provider of hospice beds outside the NHS. In total, Marie Curie spends over £80 million a year on its charitable activities of providing care as well as on research and development. The figure is overwhelming, but so is the comfort that the money can provide.
