As the season approached a couple of friendlies were played. The first ever game was against the detested Desperadoes (Deceased) in the seething cauldron of passion that is Riverside Council pitches. Sadly, the 'forces of darkness' came out on top, winning 4 -1, (4-0 ht). This naturally led to arguements in the boozer as certain Desperado players taunted the Mechanics, claiming that they had taken their foot off the pedal in the second half. This ludicrous claim almost led to fisticuffs. The next game, also a friendly, ended in a 2 - 2 draw with the mighty 'Wellbeat United', the founding team of the league.

Altogether, the first season can be judged as a success. Finnishing 7th in a league of 13, with results including an 8 - 2 victory. What would be a settling in period, to establish the hard core squad that is still today the Ferry Mechanics.
