Code of Conduct 2 of 5

2. Parent Code of Conduct

As a parent of a child participating in Junior Cricket at Harrow Town Cricket Club, it is important to adhere to the following code of conduct:

1. Respect the game and the officials: Show respect to the game of cricket, and to the officials who are responsible for running it. Accept their decisions without questioning their integrity or judgment.

2. Be supportive of all players: Encourage and support all players, not just your own child. Cheer for good play from both teams, and do not engage in negative comments or heckling.

3. Lead by example: Set a positive example for your child and other children by exhibiting good sportsmanship, fair play, and respect for others. This includes respecting the opposing team and their supporters.

4. Do not coach from the sidelines: Leave the coaching to the coach. Do not interfere with their instructions or provide conflicting advice.

5. Volunteer: Volunteer your time and expertise to assist with the team where possible. This can include coaching, scorekeeping, providing transport or refreshments.

6. Ensure appropriate behavior: Ensure that your child behaves appropriately at all times. This includes adhering to the rules of the game, respecting officials, and exhibiting good sportsmanship towards other players and supporters.

7. Do not tolerate abuse: Do not tolerate abusive or aggressive behavior from your child or other players. Report any incidents of such behavior to the coach or club officials.

8. Promote teamwork: Encourage your child to work as part of a team and to value the contributions of all team members. Promote a team-first mentality.

9. Respect the facilities: Respect the facilities provided by the cricket club. This includes ensuring that your child does not damage the grounds or facilities, and leaving the area clean and tidy.

10. Follow COVID-19 protocols: Follow any COVID-19 protocols put in place by the cricket club or government authorities. This includes wearing masks, maintaining social distancing, and following any other guidelines provided.

By adhering to this code of conduct, parents can help create a positive and supportive environment for Junior Cricket, where children can develop their skills, build friendships, and have fun.
