CONTEXT
We return to Berkshire once again following our most recent away day to Sandhurst town, and with full focus once again on the league, we set our sights on Woodley United, our hardest challenge of the season so far.
Our upcoming fixture comes off the back of a midweek premier cup fixture to Eagles Land Cricklewood, in which hopes were broken at the tail end of our tie in a penalty shootout, denying us from advancing to round three. However, an even bigger challenge awaits as we now face 2nd in the table, Woodley United.
The venue in hand this weekend is The Rivermoor Stadium. Not only home to Woodley United but also Reading City FC, and a 5-mile trip from the Select Car Leasing Stadium of Reading FC.
Our upcoming opponents pose a threat as the only team to remain unbeaten so far this season, a record which The Boro can only try and break. Woodley United also sit second in the league, a strong attribute being their defence with the least amount of goals conceded in the league.
Last time out against Woodley was at The Middlesex Stadium, in which our efforts fell short with a 1-4 loss in the penultimate game of last seasons campaign. Our first meeting in the league last year was also in the last month of April and just 4 days earlier. That time ending with us taking our half of the six points up for grabs in a 1-2 win.
Jordan Blake takes charge of his side at home while Gary Pitt makes the trek to Reading in hopes of putting up a fight this weekend.
“Up next is the challenge we’ve all been looking for in Woodley United away. Last season, we were able to manage a result against our upcoming opponents, but every season brings a new challenge so that’s what I’m expecting. We also face them once again in just over a week’s time, so today’s aim consists of putting up a fight, continuing our strength as a squad, and looking forward to the game at hand.”
