Alabama Championships write-up

Huntsville started off the tournament playing against a tough, experienced Montgomery side in the opening game of the Championships. Huntsville controlled the first half of the game through tries by Shane Brown and Nate James with Ryan Roof adding the conversions. Montgomery fought back in the second half but Huntsville held them off adding another try by Braden Stults with a conversion and a penalty added by Ryan Roof. The final score was Huntsville 24, Montgomery 17.

Advancing to the finals, Huntsville faced the growing D2 side Birmingham. Huntsville went down early to consistent pressure from a better Birmingham squad but continued to fight. At halftime, Huntsville refocused their efforts and repeatedly held off a determined Birmingham attack with Chris Cooper scoring a hard-won try against a staunch defense. The final score was Huntsville 5, Birmingham 35.
