Celebrating the Season: Awards!

Alex Fagan29 Jul - 12:00

On Thursday 10th July 2025, under sunny West Ham skies, the Kings Cross Steelers’ celebrated their favourite season: awards!

After a trying year, we scaled back our planned celebrations, instead marking the end of the season with a relaxed sunset barbecue at the club’s home ground. Players, coaches, supporters, and volunteers came together to reflect on the season, celebrate standout performances, and enjoy a well-earned evening of camaraderie.

Celebrating Excellence on the Field
The awards ceremony began with the Players' Player and Coaches' Player awards for each of the club's four regular season teams. These awards are extra special as they reflect the appreciation and respect from teammates and coaches alike.

3rd XV Awards

Honouring Our Supporters and Volunteers
The Steelers thrive not just because of their players but also due to the unwavering support from their supporters and the dedicated efforts of volunteers. Several awards were presented to acknowledge these vital contributions:

Recognition of Long-Service
We were proud to nominate John Fitzpatrick as a Vice President of the club - recognising his longstanding support and contributions to the Steelers community and his work in successive fundraising shows at Heaven.

And a truly special moment: Eden Hannam was awarded Honorary Life Membership - a rare and deeply deserved recognition of their lasting impact, dedication, and love for the club, especially in the Pathway to Rugby programme, which has seen over 600 people take up rugby for the first time or return after an extended period away.

Throughout the evening, the spirit of unity and inclusivity that defines the Kings Cross Steelers was evident. The club continues to be a beacon of acceptance and diversity in the rugby world, spreading the message that rugby is for everyone.
