All of us at Kings Norton RFC are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Jim Williams, a true legend of the club.
Many of those who have been around Kings Norton RFC over the last 20 years will be aware of Jim, forever wearing his KN cap, and always ready to lend a hand in all aspects of the club. Those who didn’t know him personally will have been witness to his massive contributions throughout his extensive history within the club.
Jim was a dedicated member of the club, a club career both on and off the pitch spanning over 50 years. From all accounts, he was a great player, and a joy to play alongside, both of which allowed him to take on the mantle of 1st XV captain from 1977-78. After stepping back from the pitch, he took on the club committee, attaining a variety of roles and positions over the years, from club president, to safeguarding officer.
However, perhaps his most significant contribution to the club was Jim’s passion for the Rhinos. Jim was instrumental in the creation of our Rhinos section, and even more fundamental in the establishment of our girls teams!! Within the Rhinos committee, he held an abundance of roles, though he’ll most likely be remembered for his continual efforts in coaching, managing and supporting our girls teams. Without him, and his partner in crime, Ron Bunce, the Rhinos would be significantly worse off.
Our thoughts are with Jim’s family at this sad time..
Jim’s funeral will be held at Robin Hood crematorium, Friday July 11th 2025, at 3pm, following afterwards at Moseley Cricket Club.
Jim’s family have asked for no flowers please, and instead ask any donations be made to Marie Curie Solihull. Please don’t feel obliged to wear black.
