Dunbar Vs Lasswade Last of the qualifiers was finally played after originally being postponed on 8th January & unfortunately Lasswade turned up with a understrength team against a Dunbar team which included at least 2 age grade district players.
Straight from the start Dunbar put pressure on the Lasswade defence & were starting to exploit the fringes with the strong running from the forwards drawing in the lasswade players before from the resultant penalty for offside after a lineout in the Lasswade 22 allowed the giant no8 to tap & go before diving over for the first score of the afternoon with the conversion being missed so the score remained 5-0.
The pressure was continuous & after 10 mins when looking like Lasswade had repelled another Dunbar attack after stealing the ball on a Dunbar lineout 5m’s out a mix-up caused Rory’s attempted clearance kick to be charged down in the in-goal area allowing Dunbar to score their 2nd try of the match this time the kick was good 12-0
6 minutes later with the Dunbar pack in ascendancy the prop forward went on a rampaging run into the Lasswade 22 before offloading the ball to the supporting lock forward who barged his way over for try no3 again converted 19-0
10 mins or so later Lasswade finally got onto the scoreboard after Andy Hall chased through his own kick to retrieve & squeeze into the far right corner with the conversion being missed it brought the score to 19-5 & indeed would be the last score of the 1st half.

The 2nd half started like the first half with Dunbar applying all the pressure & once again 5 mins into the half they were again on the scoreboard after Ciaran was adjudged to have committed a high tackle which was taken quickly resulting in another converted try 26-5
Lasswade did not let their heads go down & with their tackle count mounting up actually got the next score when after being awarded a penalty inside the home sides half which initially stopped illegally a tap by Dickson allowed the supporting Steven Simpson to dive over for try no2 but once again the kick was missed 26-10
Shortly after this Dunbar got back onto the scoreboard for the last time with an unconverted try by their strong running centre to bring the score up to 31-10
This turned out to be the last score of a match where an understrength Lasswade team came off beaten & thinking what might have happened had they been able to put out a full strength team.
