2. From the Start

Leeds Underdogs was the brain child of Kevin Brock back in 2012. Kevin along with Diane Marshman set about looking for a place to bring a new club to life.

31st July 2012, the ball started moving and following a meeting with Leeds City Council, the Club have a ground on Bedquilts Sports Ground. Two more of the founders join Kevin and Diane, Gordon Rudd and Julie Allanson. The four(the fab four)know each other from their former club Rodley Rockets.

20 August 2012, the club then need a club house and after the third attempt, the club joined the Adel Sport and Social Club.

18th September 2012, The new committee had it's first meeting. The First Committee members were Kevin Brock, Diane Marshman, Gordon Rudd, Julie Allanson, Helen Young, Mandy Rudd, Dave Stanhope, Debbie Payne, Matthew Bonshaw-Stanhope, Jodie Lee and Carol Marshman.

Sunday 14th October 2012, the club was founded and the first training session commenced.

Now the name Leeds Underdogs, yet again an idea from Kevin Brock, but how and why I bet you are asking. Following the success the Leeds Rugby had when they chose the Rhinos as a nickname, the club needed something similar. A number of names were thought of but after a visit to the Yorkshire Wild Life Park, where Kevin saw the African Painted Wild Dog, known as the Underdogs, the club had a new nickname. The Leeds part is down to two things, first was that the club didn't want to be labelled to one part of Leeds ie Adel. The second is in the press you keep hearing about Leeds being the Underdogs. So that is how the name Leeds Underdogs came around.

And the History of Leeds Underdogs begins.......
