Matlock unlucky.

Matlock travelled north to face Scunthorpe in a close fought contest. It was very obvious that Matlock's forwards where in for a tough time looking at the size of Scunthorpe's pack but fair play to Matlock that put up a display to be very proud off by taking them on in all area's of forward play. It was Matlock to register the first points after some clever moves in the backs game Andrew Eastwood the opportunity to show his pace and score a great try under the posts, Sam Page duly followed up with two more points.

Both sides seemed equal to attack and defence until Eastwood again was give time to open up and get his second. You knew Scunthorpe could hit back at any time and they did just before half time with two quick tries unable to convert either Matlock went into half time with a slender lead of 10-12.
The second half Scunthorpe came charging and their full back showed good strength to break tackles to score and take the lead for the first time 15-12. Matlock showed good determination and pressed the home side on their own line until eventually winger Tom Lawrence just managed to stretch to score giving Matlock back the lead with 5 minutes to go.

Scunthorpe throwing everything at Matlock finally broke through to get another try leaving Matlock to score a try within the last minute of the game unfortunately this was too much for them to do and the result ended 20-17 to Scunthorpe. Nothing to to be sad about as Matlock took on a good side only having 16 boys to use.
