History

Mellish RFC was formed in 1931 and the ground was originally located at Podder Lane, Mapperley, Nottingham. Our Club Motto is from the Henry Mellish Grammar School Tenax Propositi (Firm of Purpose)

We moved to our present, purpose built location in 1984; purchased by a donation in Memorial to the Henry Mellish Grammar School Old boys & Masters, who died in the 2nd World War.

The current clubhouse is a large and modern building with many facilities and a large amount of training equipment. It is an excellent rugby club and an ideal venue for any large function, meeting or event.

There is an extensive amount of land, and there are four, full-sized, well-maintained pitches and an additional training pitch. Two of our four full pitches are fully flood lit and there are training lights on the additional Mini pitch/training area and part of the 3rd pitch.

We currently field three Senior men's teams, a Ladies team and a large Junior/ Mini's section.

Local schools and colleges frequently use the ground for selection trials as do the NLD for referee training.
