The Mid Herts RA was mentioned in the October 2012 RA News Digest as one of the country's most thriving Societies. In 2016 it became the last surviving RA Society in Hertfordshire and now welcomes referees from anywhere in the county.
Our meetings are relaxed but informative and a welcome feature of them is we embrace new and young referees to attend. They can join in with the more established members who include referees at all Levels from 7 to 1, Assessors, County FA and League officials, mentors and Tutors. There is therefore a wealth of experience on hand for anyone with a refereeing query or problem.
The Mid Herts RA was probably established in the late 1930s although there are no existing records prior to 1949. We still have members who remember the 1950s and all the ups and downs over the years. Nowadays the Committee's policy is to ensure that meetings are:
* sociable (we have a bar and a raffle with some good and fun prizes)
* focus on refereeing topics (we have a match incidents section in every meeting and guest speakers who inform and entertain)
* supportive (if someone has a problem we help them solve it)
* involve members both young and old
