John Jackson was a popular and hard working member of the Society who died suddenly just after Christmas 2009. John was a MHRA Training Officer and qualified FA Tutor. He was also Vice Chairman of the Society.

A Memorial Trophy in John's name was established at the end of the 2009/10 season. It is presented at the AGM by the Committee to their selected Young Referee of the Year. This recognises John's commitment to helping and advising newly qualified referees.

John's wife Sheila, an active member of the MHRA, has presented the trophy each year to the following winners:
