2. Reserves 2009/2010

Lack of direction?

Last season, the reserves could only be described as in transistion. They had a numerous managers it fair to say that the team lacked stability. With a number of players joining and leaving, team chemistry and ethic was hard to build. The lack of a target and a common goal shared by both the players and the coaches who came and went meant it was an all round average season.
There came times where the team would put in fantastic performances for example against Valentine, in which the team put in their best display all season but due to the lack of players and guidance from the sideline the team gradually ran out of fuel and unfortunately suffered another defeat.
Also there was time where the turn out for games by players was extremely poor leading to a lack of players on the pitch let alone on the side lines.
The players defiantly got a boost in in the form of John Galligan, a popular Newbury saturday and sunday first team player, becoming manager for a short period of time. Galligan encouraged a new wave of understanding between the players thus leading to everyone enjoying their football.
Next season is sure to be a successful one with squad numbers looking rife and pre-season having been very positive. Reserves seem to have a stable and committed manager in charge in the form of Luke Mardle and this can only breed confidence.
