The thirds entertained Leek at Their sell out Valley sports arena. Leek, who were fielding the Hanford scrum half as a guest showed the professional attitude by having a warm up. Not to be out done Newcastle thirds responded by arriving nearly on time ( 1.37 meet guys!!) Newcastle who again made changes including the Fiji Mens Choir in the backs started the game with some good flowing moves an scored an early try. Rich Morgan satisfied with his examination of the post last week decided that they did not warrant another inspection and was in fine form and the centre of most of Newcastle play. Leek kept themselves in the game with a try just before the break. Half time came and a quick try after the restart increased Newcastle lead. Sadly a Leek player injured his wrist and was unable to leave the field so the match was abandoned ten minutes into the second half with the score standing at 22-10.
Nevertheless it a win for Newcastle.
