This evening we welcome Woodbridge Town to Plantation Park for our Thurlow Nunn Premier Division match. We look forward to welcoming The Woodpeckers players, officials and supporters.
We would also like to welcome this evening's match officials and ask that you respect them both on and off the pitch.
Saturday saw us record a 4-1 victory over Ely City to strengthen our second position with Newmarket Town losing to tonight’s visitors Woodbridge Town and Wroxham being held to a draw by Long Melford. After Liam Jackson netted his 30th goal of the season it looked like a win was on the cards but Ely fought back and grabbed an equaliser early in the second half. Up stepped Ben Fowkes who refound his scoring boots and struck a hat trick to secure the three points.
Woodbridge Town arrive at Plantation Park with back to back wins over Newmarket, their 2-0 win at home on Saturday following up an impressive 3-1 win at Newmarket a fortnight earlier. The Woodpeckers currently sit in seventh position some 12 points behind the Planters. The two sides met in January with the Planters scoring four times in the first half to secure a very impressive win.
We have three successive away games at Mildenhall (next Saturday, 3pm), Stowmarket Town (Tuesday, March 3, 7.45pm) and Hadleigh United (Saturday, March 14, 3pm) before we host Stanway Rovers on Tuesday, March 17 in the Thurlow Nunn League Challenge Cup semi-final, kick-off 7.45pm.
Our U21s are at home next Saturday when Watton United are the visitors, kick-off at 2pm. The U18s are at home on Thursday evening when Waveney are the visitors, kick-off 7.45pm.
We hope to see you all at Plantation Park!
