Saturday 28th December saw a break in the festive calendar for the local derby of Newton v Haughley, a bumper crowd of well over 200 people turned up to watch a tight game which was won by a single goal scored by Newton's Michael Velzian.

Following the match Old Newton hosted the annual Christmas jumper night, a fund rising event for St Elizabeth Hospice, a huge £505 was collected for this great cause well down to all involved.
