OWCC 1XI Vs East Horsley 1XI

Saturday, 18th May 2019
East Horsley CC 1st XI v Old Woking CC 1st XI

Scores:
Old Woking CC 1st XI : 121-10 (39.4 overs)
East Horsley CC 1st XI : 123-3 (16.2 overs)

Old Woking Stifled by 6-year SDL table toppers

On an overcast day OWCC won the toss and elected to bat. Nick Collin and David Pope managed a gentle start of 25-0 on a green track until Collin (8) was done LBW by an in swinger from Jason Launder (2-27). Agney Das joined confident David Pope in the middle with a strategy to build the innings. However, the left arm spinner Jarred Pitout played the trick to trap David Pope LBW to end a well-played innings at 21. Agney Das (13) started off watchfully to see thorough a couple of overs, tried to get into his usual rhythm with well timed shots making their way to the boundary but unfortunately miscued one to gift his wicket. Old Woking middle order was crumpled by J Pitout (4-13) & Nev Marsh (2-31) with a quick removal of Sudeep Rana, Sravan Athuru and Gary Sirman who walked back to pavilion with 4 runs each. Batsmen no. 5 Sanjeev Bidur (16) who was looking to play an anchor role also became a victim of J Pitout. This followed by some decent contributions by skipper Abilash Panicker (15) and Pragatheesh Pragatheesh (13) against the lethal bowling attack. OWCC tail wagged until almost a full quota of the overs are bowled by the opposition.
East Horsley produced a well-disciplined bowling performance restricting OWCC to 121.
East Horsley came into bat, lost their opener Seb Phillips (1) got runout in the second over. However, it looked as if this did not impact the hosts much with the kind of batting lineup they had. No 3 bat Andrew Bull joins Jason Launder with a clear intension of taking on the opposition striking the ball all round the park. Abilash Panicker (2-41) picks the wickets of Andrew Bull who played a quick-fire knock of 28 and no 4 bat Marcus Roche (12). The visitors managed to pick only 3 wickets retaining some dignity before the Jason Launder (41*) and Matthew Codrington (35*) race to the target with a flurry of boundaries.
OWCC had a difficult game and can hopefully bounce back next week.
