Chasetown

If Sheffield’s manager turned professional boxer Curtis Woodhouse ever signed Chasetown’s Dave Egan ‘handbags’ might be an understatement in the event of a dressing room row!

The pair would certainly be evenly matched. Like Woodhouse, the 29-year-old attacking midfielder is pursuing his boxing dream as a light welterweight and has launched a Facebook campaign to get Scholars supporters along to his next bout before Christmas.

‘Handsome’ Dave Egan as he’s known in the ring is currently waiting to find out who his next opponent will be for his fourth professional fight at Birmingham’s HMV Institute on Sunday December 16 but that hasn’t stopped him launching an internet campaign to get as many fans as possible along to cheer him to victory in the ring.

Egan returned to The Scholars Ground for his third spell with the Evo-Stik NPL First Division South club this season having already scored 41 goals in nearly 250 appearances. The boxer has already won over his manager Craig Harris and is determined to win a title like Woodhouse who won the English 10 Stone belt on points in September.

“It’s a great excuse for everyone to meet up for Christmas drinks and enjoy some top quality professional boxing,” said Egan. “I’m looking to put on a real good show against a better opponent. Each fight will get harder and more exciting now until I win a title!”

Sutton Coldfield Town

Thousands of young Gambian youngsters have Sutton Coldfield Town to thank after the Evo-Stik NPL First Division South club acted as internet middle man for football charity Kit Aid.

Coaches at the African state’s Gift of Nema Football Academy emailed
the Royals for help and after a flurry of emails between them, Royals secretary Bill Worship and the charity, a delivery of kit and training aids was duly dispatched.

The Royals are the latest Non-League club to back Kit Aid, the Evo-Stik NPL’s official charity partner this season. They are now planning to start organising donations of their own from the hundreds of players every week playing day and night on their all weather pitches at Coles Lane.

Sutton Coldfield Secretary Bill Worship said the club was delighted to act as middle men after alerting the league and Kit Aid.

He said: “It takes nothing to acknowledge an email and it is great to know something good has come out of it like this. I like to try and answer every email and we just put them together with Kit Aid who did the rest. I’ll be certainly be carrying on with the policy as you never know who you could help.”

“We have a 3G pitch that is used day and night seven days a week so we’re thinking about asking the players and teams who use it to donate and we’ll be passing them on to Kit Aid too.”

Kit Aid’s founder Derrick Williams, MBE, said: "The Evo-Stik NPL partnership paid dividend once again and we were really pleased to have helped share kit and contacts via our charity partner Football Gambia."

Since its foundation in 1998 KitAid has sent more than 200,000 donated shirts to less fortunate footballers around the world with support from a host of Non-League’s leading clubs including KitAid Ambassador clubs Witton Albion, FC United of Manchester, Marine and Chesham.

Stafford Rangers

Stafford Rangers fan Neil Collingwood reckons his football loving dog Misty is going barking mad over Greg Clowes’s Evo-Stik NPL Premier outfit.

The 11-year-old black and white Border Collie already sports Rangers colours and follows her heroes home and away. Now Stafford have helped their number one canine fan prepare for a winter on the terraces by having a specially made coat embroidered with the club’s logo made for Misty.

Her delighted owner says her obsession for Rangers has turned her life around. Rescued as a neglected and timid puppy, she’s been transformed into an outgoing and normally well behaved hound who’s never happier than standing with the Marston Road faithful.

Collingwood, who’s been supporting Rangers for more than 25 year, says Misty was immediately hooked on Rangers after attending her first game five years ago when she found gaps in the advertising boards at Marston Road to watch the action through. Since then any mention of Stafford Rangers has Misty pricking up her ears and straining on her leash to get to the ground.

Misty’s proud owner said: “I’ve noticed that since she has been going to watch Stafford she’s become far more outgoing and accepting of strangers, to the point where she now expects everyone at games to make a fuss of her. She’s even friendly with the players and used to seek out our former striker Ben Mills in the social club after games because he used to feed her part of his post match meal!”

Collingwood admits he’s still got a lot work to do training Misty to control her passion for Rangers so he can enjoy a pint at games and the players can train in peace.

He added: “I have to keep her on a leash when we pass the ground when training is on or she’s straight off to watch. On matchdays when’re in the bar before the game she is constantly edging towards the door to get into the ground. She then takes herself through the turnstiles to watch the pre-match warm up!”

Marine

High-flying Marine are building on the success of Non-League Day by extending their discounted ticket offers for Everton, Liverpool and Tranmere Rovers season ticket holders.

The Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division’s Mariners say they've decided to continue reducing admission prices for any fans holding a valid season ticket to £5 until the end of the season after attracting plenty of new faces to the Arriva Stadium during Non-League Day on Saturday 13 October.

Marine Chairman Paul Leary believes Non-League Day demonstrated the potential of Merseyside fans getting.. He said: "We were pleasantly surprised with the number of Everton, Liverpool and Tranmere fans that took up the free admission offer on National Non-League Day. This is another great way for Merseyside football fans who to adopt Marine as their second team.”

Non-League Day was supported by clubs up and down football’s Pyramid for the third year running. Organisers asked clubs to help attract new fans and raise awareness of the Non-League game by offering free or heavily discounted admission to season tickets holders at Premier League and Football League clubs.

Eastwood Town

Eastwood Town are looking for a new manager after John Ramshaw resigned.
Ramshaw's assistant manager Darren Kelk also left Coronation Park and skipper Mitch Hanson and Paul Riley took over as joint caretaker managers for Saturday's Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division clash at Ashton United.

Ramshaw tendered his resignation with Eastwood in the bottom three of the Premier Division having taken 10 points for 14 matches. He blamed continuing budgets cuts for his decision to walk away.

Ramshaw said: "Constant budget reductions and the uncertainty of wage payments have made my position untenable. More importantly the recent austerity measures imposed by the club mean that, once again, I no longer feel that with the current playing budget we can field a team that will be successful at this level of football.

"This is not a decision I have taken lightly and in some respects I feel that by doing so I am letting down a lot of very good people at Eastwood Town who are fighting tooth and nail to keep this football club alive. However, there comes a point when one has to say, ‘Enough is enough’.”

"I would like to thank all of the players, staff and supporters who have shown patience and understanding whilst standing by me in this adverse period of the club’s history. I wish the club and all of those seriously involved with it, the very best for the future.”

New Mills

New Mills named coach Roy Soule as their manager after their 4-1 victory at Bamber Bridge.

The Millers parted company with Ally Pickering and his assistant Jim Wightman and Soule was appointed as his permanent replacement after their Evo-Stik NPL First Division North win.

A former Manchester United junior player, Soule was Karl Marginson's number two at FC United of Manchester until May when he left and then joined Pickering's coaching staff in the summer.

Soule, a former Crewe Alexandra and Oldham Athletic scout, returns to management having had a lengthy period in charge at Glossop North End before managing Caernarfon Town, Mossley and later Droylsden

Leeds United's legendary winger Peter Lorimer is heading down the road from his old stomping ground at Elland Road to Farsley’s Throstle Nest to be guest of honour at the Evo-Stik NPL First Division North club’s annual Sportsman’s Dinner.

Cullingworth was the regular at right-back throughout last season’s charge to promotion to the Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division and has been in Australia to playing for Manly in the summer.

The Robins knew the defender intended to return in the autumn and manager Kevin Wilson has offered the former Eastwood, Hucknall and Boston United player the chance to pick up where he left off.

Wilson said: "He’s an infectious character who has kept himself fit by playing with Manley. He is a good footballer who has proved himself at a higher level and he knows our dressing room.”

Blyth Spartans

Blyth Spartans' keepers are are wearing brand new training kit to help raise awareness of a rare illness after the Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division club signed a sponsorship deal with local charity Breathtakers.

Spartans keepers Conor Grant and Matty Hunter are now displaying the charity's logos on their new kit to support families affected by the rare condition Obliterative Bronchiolitis, a life limiting form of non-reversible obstructive lung disease that occurs in children and adults after injury to the lower respiratory tract.

Spartans’ goalkeeping coach Carl Kings aid: "It is fantastic that a charity that may not be as well known and a condition that certainly isn’t, will be able to gain more awareness through our lads wearing their logo."

Hednesford

Hednesford’s groundsmen are unlikely to have any future problems marking out the pitch at Keys Park thanks to a donation from the Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division club's fans.

The Hednesford Town Supporters Association, who run the fundraising Pitmen Prize Draw, has presented delighted ground staff with new line marking equipment bought with funds raised by their latest monthly draw.

Members of Hednesford's draw see their £5 monthly payments split three ways with 50 per cent of funds going towards prize money, 40 per cent to a club fund and the remaining 10 per cent retained by the Supporters Association for initiatives around the club.
