Otley rugby club provides rugby training for c250 boys and girls from Otley and the surrounding areas on a Sunday. We also work with local schools and colleages, including St Mary's Menston, Prince Henry's Otley and Leeds University to actively support the vlaues of rugby union and encourage participation in the sport.
We support a Community Sports Coach to take rugby into local schools, and run sports camps during the Easter and Summer holidays for local children.
We help to fund raise for the local schools and community for the wider development of recreational facilities in the local community – e.g., our annual Boxing Day match, Prince Henry’s 3G pitch
We actively participate in transitional and pathway activities for school leavers to continue healthy sporting activities post school – e.g., our agreement with Old Otlensians (a local rugby club) and our current development of a Colts team
We engage with the local community and all other sports clubs in Otley for the promotion of participation in healthy recreation through our membership of Sport Chevin and our participation in the Festival of Sport / Be Active Fairs
We participate in local and regional committees and organisations to promote the participation of rugby – e.g., Zebra’s demonstration at Otley Carnival,
We provide facilities for the local community to meet and gather for social and healthy activities – e.g., Zebras Bonfire Night
We provide fund raising activities for mental health, healthy living and motor neurone disabilities locally and regionally – e.g., charity raffles, charity match
The club is also an active member of both the Otley Chamber of Trade and the Otley BID team.
