Goalkeeping update.

Firstly I'd like apologise for the lack of info on the website recently. Its been a while since I've been able to add any info and update the website unfortunately.

Well, we have had quite a hectic few months since the last update, but we hope everyone has had a peaceful and relaxing Christmas with their families.

Our Monday sessions for our 7-11yrs, 12-14yrs and open age GKs on grass at Brighouse Town have yet again been hit hard by the winter weather with not only the training pitch taking a battering but also the main pitch. We have however, been given an opportunity (when available) to move our sessions to the fantastic new indoor 3G facility 3Gi in Halifax. Unfortunately some of our GKs cannot make the indoor sessions for various reasons however where possible we are committed to our sessions at Brighouse Town and we will do everything we can to get the outdoor sessions on. There can be times when goalkeepers diving around in mud can be fun, but we have to ensure that the sessions we put on give goalkeepers the opportunity to learn and have fun and being ankle deep in mud in freezing cold conditions does not make for much fun for anyone unfortunatley. So hopefully once we have a bit of drier weather and the training area has time to dry out we will get back to our sessions on grass at Brighouse Town.

Our Saturday sessions have also now restarted on the 3G at Hipperholme and Lightcliffe for our 7-11yrs and 12-14yrs groups. Seeing both groups now full is very pleasing as it demonstrates to us that the GKs learn and more importantly enjoy the sessions too. It is unfortunate that we can't have more GKs attending and have to add them to a waiting list but it is also very important that the GKs who do attend get the quality coaching required to improve. There are certain other national GK coaching franchises who have massive group numbers with wide age ranges and poor coach/GK ratio's. This is great for profits but not so great for the GKs who are taking part.
