PHUKET CRICKET BACKGROUND
The Phuket Cricket Group (PCG) hosted its first game at the ACG in early November 2011 and has since hosted several high profile tours along with regular local cricket.
Phuket Cricket struggled significantly after Phuket was cut off from the rest of the world in 2020 with the loss of many players and all sponsors. Thanks to the financial support of a few PCG members cricket continued on the Island until the ACG removed the astro-turf wicket in mid 2023.
A plastic pitch was used in late 2023 for the touring season before the ACST (Asian Cricket Sixes Tour) installed a removable coconut mat which has proven to be an effective solution for the multi sport ground.
Looking forward to the 2024 touring season there are hopes for a new square with a reorientated wicket for further improved playing and viewing conditions.
Please come and support the ACG and Phuket Cricket!
