PHUKET CRICKET HISTORY

Organised cricket has been played on the island since 2005 under the Phuket Cricket Union which was later renamed to the Phuket Cricket Group.

The concept of a dedicated cricket ground was conceived by the late Alan Cooke (MBE) in early 2005, land was acquired, and an initial start made. Further progress beyond plot clearance was delayed until late 2010.

Early in 2011 an ACG Construction Team, comprising Mark Ashman, Anthony Van Blerk, Martin Foster and Stuart Reading was formed. The project was a community effort with project management, architectural fees, legal fees, QS, electrical, structural engineering services, all provided at no cost to the club.

Significant donations by two Phuket cricket enthusiasts, Dave Roberts and Keith Brooks, allowed the clubhouse to be completed and further improvements in 2018 to the clubhouse have been made at cost price thanks to Anthony Van Blerk. Lately, a group of ACG supporters assisted in 2021 to keep the doors open amid ongoing complications due to Covid-19 and the government regulations put in place for Phuket.
