Ransomes Sports are on the road this weekend (March 9th) as they travel to face Stowupland Falcons in a SIL Senior Division fixture KO 2030 pm.
Newly promoted Stow Falcons started the campaign with five straight league wins which propelled them to the top of the table as early season leaders. That winning run wasn't going to last forever in a competive Division and since then, The Falcons have drifted badly and they are now winless in their last six league outings. A season that starte with so much promise has dwindled, and they are in no kind of form. Their last league win was back in November 2023 when they won 6-2 at Wickham Market.
Ransomes have three wins on the bounce and are up to second place in the league, and they will fancy their chances against an out-of-form opponent. It is worth remembering though the capabilities of the home side as is reflected in that early season form. It is going to be a tough game for Ransomes as Stow Falcons are a really difficult team to beat and they will need to earn the right to win this game.
There is a lot to admire about Stowupland Falcons and they are extremely well managed so a tough afternoon is to be expected. Like any side, Stow Falcons have their weaknesses and strengths so it will be down to Ransomes to look to take the game where they want it to go if they wish to maintain their own winning run. They cannot take this match for granted and they will need to show the same ruthless efficiency in front of goal as they did last weekend when they doled out a 7-3 defeat to Old Newton. they were such a threat in that first half but maybe could have done a bit more after the interval - Ransomes will need to reignite that same level of performance if they wish to maintain their current league standing, as they looked a serious proposition going forward during that first 45 minutes.
So, a visit from Ransomes is probably the last thing Stow Falcons needed after a dodgy few weeks, but don't expect this game to venture down easy street for the visitors.
