Blofield United Fc 1 v 0 Scole United Fc

Scole travelled to Blofield on a high after a good opening day win but realising they would be in for a tougher test against a reinforced Blofield who had put in a great performance against the much fancied Mundford the week before.
Teenager Ewan Chamberlain took his place on the bench following illness last week with Tom Peck stepping down, other than that, hat-trick hero Jake McDowall took the number 9 shirt with Brad Hunt stepping down to the bench.

Blofield started in typically brusque fashion in an attempt to unsettle a young Scole side. This tactic paid dividends in the 8th minute when they took a fortunate lead in unusual fashion. Following a long ball from defence and pressure from the centre forward, Luke Martin played the ball back to keeper Callum Simmons. The Blofield striker chased the ball down and Simmons' clearance was charged down, the ball squirmed away from the unfortunate keeper who tried vainly to keep the ball from crossing the line and injured himself in the process. Fair play to the teenage shot stopper who bravely played on for the full 90 minutes despite being in considerable pain and requiring hospital treatment after the game!
Scole began to come back into the game with Ash Baxter hitting the post with a good shot from the edge of the area with the keeper beaten and James Harrison having his shot well blocked by the keeper. Things got worse for Scole just before half-time when centre back Reece Lanchester had to come off after getting caught by a stray elbow splitting his eyebrow (another A&E visitor), Moose Davey came on in his place.
Following a tactical change at half-time and Hunt replacing McDowall, Scole took control. Baxter & Harrison both had chances and Harrison saw his header come back off the bar but Scole could just not put the ball in the net. Chamberlain came on for his Senior debut and showed his future potential with some good touches but despite dominating the second half and Blofield hanging on at the end Scole just couldn't quite get the deserved equaliser.
Onwards to next weeks home tie against Mattishall 14:30 ko.
