Marketing Manager

Shelford Rugby Club has a fantastic opportunity for someone who has previously worked in a full-time marketing position and is now looking for a part-time role to fit around other commitments. We are recruiting an experienced all-around Marketing Manager to join the club, to manage the on and off line marketing of the club and its activities to over 1,100 members, our local community and our partners, on a part-time basis.

The salary is £15,000 per annum (pro-rata, based on £24,000 FTE) for 25 hours a week, term time only.

Key tasks in the role are;

• Work with our small team of employees (and volunteers) to understand their department’s marketing needs and ensure all streams of consumers of the club have a marketing presence. This is quite far ranging as we have many types of rugby appealing to different groups. In addition, we have both club and commercial activities at the club which need marketing to ensure continued use of all the club’s facilities.

• Update and maintain the club’s website, publish the weekly newsletter (known as ‘The Weekend Preview’) and segment our audience and members using our CRM system to allow tailored messaging to our different groups.

• Develop and implement a social media plan, whilst also managing the output of local content and marketing freelancers, to ensure the whole club is included/covered. As well as the senior playing side of the club, this will also include our youth playing teams, our community outreach, other playing groups, parents, volunteering etc...

• Developing and managing relationships with local businesses to understand how a partnership with the club can be utilised to assist in their own marketing strategies. Managing our current partners to ensure the terms of all agreements are being met and to continue to develop and adapt those relationships as required. Establishing a relationship with all partners will be a key aspect to the role.

• Work with current partners to establish a plan around brand activations to the benefit of both the club and the partner. Work with our members who own businesses to help develop their reach into the wider membership, through a trade directory which needs building.

Attributes

We are looking for someone who has the following key attributes;

• Is an experienced marketeer and also has a very good understanding of the use of social media channels to support marketing efforts.
• Will be highly organised, needing to juggle immediate week to week needs and longer term relationships with the club's partners.
• A self-starter who can understand the need to develop personal relationships on behalf of the Club rather than just cold calling.
• Someone who can work as part of a small team of employees, but within a larger group of club volunteers.
• A keen interest in rugby or grassroots sports would be preferred, but not essential.

To apply please send your CV and a brief covering letter to Mikael Biard on secretary@shelfordrugby.co.uk . Closing date is 31st January 2022.
