Even though they made eight changes to their starting line-up, Shepshed were far too powerful for Quorn and deservedly progressed to the 2nd Round of the UniBond Challenge Cup.
The scoring was opened in just the 5th minute when Lheureux Menga sliced through the Dons' defence and despite looking certain to score he smashed his shot against the far post. The jeers of the Quorn supporters immediately turned into Shepshed cheers when Rhys Powell latched onto the rebound and from the corner of the area lashed the ball across Gurminda Aujla and into the opposite corner.
Midway through the first half, Quorn made loud appeals for a penalty, however home goalkeeper Gavin Saxby clearly got the ball before the man when sliding in to challenge Liam Turner.
On the half hour mark, a long high ball bounced over Quorn defender Cameron Keast allowing Matt Glass to control the ball only to find that Aujla was alert to the danger and slid in to claim the ball at Glass' feet.
This prompted a sustained spell of Quorn pressure as they set up camp in the Shepshed half, with Brett Darby clearing the angle with a shot from 20 yards, before good play by Paul White set up Russell Peel whose fierce shot from a tight angle ended up in the side netting.
After soaking up the waves of Quorn attacks, Shepshed produced a sucker punch on the stroke of half-time when a Powell free-kick from wide on the right simply invited Menga to powerfully head home at the far post.
After Quorn's Tom Byrne shot wildly off target after Turner did well to control a long clearance, it was all over bar the shouting just six minutes after the interval when Shepshed Building Society man of the match Iain Screaton curled an inch-perfect corner that was lashed past Aujla by Sam Saunders.
With Quorn seemingly resigned to their fate, the rest of the match played out with the only question being how many more Shepshed were going to rub into the wounds of their hapless guests.
After Ben Saunders skewed his shot wide of the goal when clean through, he made amends in the 76th minute when Powell crossed wide from the right to the far post. The unfortunate Aujla failed to hold on to the ball and allowed Saunders the easiest of tap-ins and complete the rout.
