Siddal produce another polished performance

Siddal scored seven tries in another fine display in overcoming opponents that have fared well against the Halifax side in recent seasons. In a physical first half defences were in top in the early stages of the game.

Christian Ackroyd was first to register a try for Siddal on 17 minutes. While the conversion attempt was wide, Siddal went 6-0 ahead as they were awarded a penalty for a late hit on Ackroyd after he scored the try, which Lewis Hosty landed.

Siddal surged clear in the ten minutes leading up to half time, scoring two converted tries. The first came from a surge forward by Conner MacCallum. Ackroyd then switched play to the blind side and Dan May reacted to a Hosty kick on the last tackle to ground the ball. Just before the break Oliver Lewis fielded a Lock Lane kick and sped 60 yards upfield before being tackled. Slick handling from Jamie Greenwood, Ackroyd and Hosty found Henry Turner in space and the classy centre made no mistake with a touchdown. Hosty's conversion made the half time score 0-18.

Moving into the second half the visitors put the game beyond doubt when Hosty scored two tries and converted both himself in a 5-minute purple patch. On 51 minutes Siddal collected a Lock Lane last tackle kick and the ball was worked towards the full back who made no mistake. After 56 minutes inventive play from Lewis and Turner found the supporting Hosty available on the inside and he raced in under the posts. The conversion put Siddal 0-30 ahead.

On the hour mark Lock Lane scored a try of their own through scrum half Callum Butler for a 4-30 scoreline.

The visitors had time for two further scores. On 69 minutes the ball was once again moved at pace through hands and Hosty fed Liam Whitton who's touchline dash was followed by a spectacular diving effort to avoid the last line of defence. The conversion from the touchline was missed.

In the final minute Whitton interecepted the ball as the home side looked to score on the last tackle and the speedy back ran the length of the field to complete the try scoring. Harvey Williams took over the kicking duties and his conversion signalled the final whistle and a 4-40 win for Siddal. Lewis Hosty was awarded man of the match for another dynamic display from full back.
