Wynford Phillips Festival 2024

Slough Rugby Club was pleased to welcome youth teams from 7 clubs to the Wynford Phillips Festival 2024.
A sunny but chilly day, teams played 4 or 5 games depending on their age group.

Slough U8s Archie Millard, Matthew Quincey and Zachary Norton combined well from the start leading to several tries against Windsor and Farnborough 2 in their first two games.

The third game against Phoenix 1 provided a sterner test which prompted some great defensive play from Ammar Nazer, Ethan White and Izzat Salim.

A tough game against Wallingford followed, Naryan Sandhu heavily involved in play here, before the final game against Farnborough 1 which saw Ahmadh Refaye and Aaqib Faiz adding to the scoresheet.

Slough U8s coaches Anthony Millard and James Quincey were pleased with how the team had done. ‘Our U8s did extremely well. The festival was great experience to finish the rugby season’.

A spokesperson for Slough RFC said ‘We welcomed players from 7 clubs to our youth festival this year. There was some great rugby on display, all played with Rugby Core Values of Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship at the forefront.
Our club fundraising efforts did well as did Frimley Health who attended to raise funds for the ENT unit.
I’d like to say a big thank you to all of our volunteers, both ahead of the day and on the day itself, who made this year’s festival a successful and enjoyable day for all.’

Teams attending: Andover, Farnborough, Phonenix, Pinner, Slough, Staines, Wallingford, Windsor.
